‘Harry Potter’ books get a new look

Harry Potter stole the hearts of many readers in 1997, when the first book was released. Just four years after that, movie lovers got a chance to be part of the magic too. What could possibly be next for this billion-dollar franchise? The answer is finally here; illustrated books!

On December 6^th, 2013 Bloomsbury Publishing announced all seven of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books were getting a makeover. They’re all being published with full-color illustrations.

Jim Kay, who won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2012, will be executing the illustrations for each book, including their covers. Kay, who is a fan of the franchise, went on to say, "From my point of view it is, without doubt, the commission of a lifetime…”.

The first in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is set to release in September 2015. The subsequent books are intended for release annually after that, allowing readers to grow up with the characters all over again.

First look at Jim Kay's work:

A Movie For the Non-Readers

The Mortal Instruments book series is becoming a movie series! Just like The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games and much more, The Mortal Instruments series released it's first movie on August 21st, 2013. It's called, "The Mortal Instruments, City of Bones," The same title as the first book.

The first book of the series, written by Cassandra Clare, was published in March, 2007 and by April, was already highly popular. It is a series of modern and urban fantasy, filled with Angels, demons and every other creature known to that genre. There is love, there's battles, there is honor and betrayal and above else, it is unique in it's story line.

The series consists of five books so far with a sixth and final book scheduled for release in May, 2014. All the books in the series have been in the New York Times Bestseller lists. City of Bones was number 1 on the list for 9 weeks, taking the place of The Hunger Games.

There are plenty of us out there who feel we don't have time to read a whole book series. That's why having the best sellers become movies is great! It takes a few days if not more to read a book series but it only takes a couple of hours to go see a movie. Check it out and see if you like the visual story!
